Fast food alone is not to blame for obesity, but it is a huge contributor
Considering the millions of people served at fast food restaurants versus any other eating establishment, fast food restaurants hold a particular responsibility to provide nutritious, tasty and healthy food. Instead, most fast food restaurants provide clearly unhealthy food, or unhealthy food disguised as healthy food (such as salads with fat-laden dressing). This should be discouraged.
Fast food is unhealthy and can lead to obesity. The real question is whether the fast food industry is to blame. And to this I would say yes, but the responsibility lies on individuals and most importantly parents/guardians of children.
The fast food industry is fuelled by billions of dollars with the, almost entire, Purpose of making money. This means selling as much food products as possible. The foods are engineered to be enticing and crave-able (Lots of sugar, Fat, And salt).
They are offered cheaply and marketed in a way that is also designed to give consumers the impression that the food and restaurant are not only harmless, but, places that are fun and satisfying.
This has been a dangerous experiment over the last 50 years, And at this point it is become such a normalised part of our eating habits that it’s hard to see the truth behind the yummy food and convenience of the industry. But, let’s not kid ourselves to believe it’s just about each individual’s choice. When the system is rigged against you, It’s not just about what we eat
We do not force people to come in and order the fattest thing on the menu
After ordering the fattest thing, people have a tendency to upgrade it to a large. These people walk in knowing that they are overweight, eat a big meal, then say it’s all because their bodies can’t loose weight when in reality that is not the case.
If something is good your going to want to keep eating it but ask yourself, is it healthy for me?
Fast food doesn’t usually give you the nutrients you need and just gives calories. That will eventually lead to obesity and that’s not what anyone wants. Fast food lacks nutrients and is pack and made horrible.
Society can not put all the blame for obesity on one cause
There are many reasons why obesity rates have exploded. Fast food has made food cheaper and quicker to access, but ultimately it is the person who makes the decision whether they will eat more unhealthy food or not and therefore they deserve most of the blame. Even though fast food is readily available to most people, individuals still have to make a choice to maintain their health. There are some fast food restaurants that now offer healthier choices like fresh fruit or salads so that those who are trying to watch their weight can do so successfully.
Genetic factors and lifestyle also play a role in obesity. It is up to each individual to find out how to treat and prevent obesity for themselves.
